The name Blue Morpho is borrowed from a butterfly. The Menelaus Blue Morpho is one of thirty species of butterfly in the subfamily Morphinae known for its vibrant blue coloration. As with the oxidation layer on the inside of our ring the iridescent wings on the butterfly appear blue. However this amazing color isn't the result of pigmentation but rather a how light interacts with the micro structure of the wing surface. At different angles of observation the color will change slightly just like the ring in these pictures. Unlike our other inlay rings the Blue Morpho is cut from a solid chunk of 6AL4V titanium right here in our shop. Each ring is accented with carbon rails on either side of the slightly sunken titanium center. The face is sanded to a satin finish for long term durability. The blue anodizing can be scraped away or worn away over time. We intentionally put the color inside for this reason. This ring is built for daily wear, not just another pretty face. The inside of each ring is polished for hours all the way up to 8,000 grit sandpaper and then buffed prior to electro anodizing.
This ring is available in size 7-12 in whole and half sizes. We do not offer 1/4 sizes at this time. If you don't know your size please visit a your local jeweler and get sized. This only takes a few minutes and most jewelers are happy to help you even if you don't buy from them. Please do not guess on your size so that you can start wearing your new ring right away. This ring is made to order and usually takes 3-4 weeks to ship. **Please note - a perfect blue color match inside is the goal. The shade of blue can vary slightly. Anodizing is a variable process.
